A California jury awarded a man $80 million in damages last month after he claimed that Roundup weed killer caused him cancer.
This is the second high-profile verdict against Monsanto involving Roundup—last year, a California jury awarded a man more than $200 million after he successfully argued that his non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma was a result of the use of the glyphosate-based weed-killer during his job.
Attorneys say that the cases could determine settlements and verdicts going forward in other Roundup lawsuits. The March case involved a judge who is overseeing hundreds of other cases and it was deemed a “bellwether trial” along with a few other lawsuits.
Keep in mind that the International Agency for Research on Cancer, a branch of the World Health Organization, found glyphosate is a probable carcinogen in 2015.
Roundup is a commonly used herbicide by home owners, gardeners and landscapers. If you have experienced symptoms like swollen lymph nodes, double vision, headaches or rashes, and you have used Roundup, it may be in your best interest to seek medical attention and contact our Central Texas personal injury attorneys.
