The Houston Chronicle reports that a mother has filed a lawsuit against the bus company involved in a Channelview ISD band team crash that injured dozens of students.
The crash happened in March, as students were returning home to Texas from Disney World, when the bus plunged about 50-feet down a ravine in rural Alabama. The bus driver died in the accident.
The lawsuit was filed in Harris County Civil Court against First Class Tours and seeks more than $1 million in damages. The mother claims her child suffered a severe scalping (head) injury during the crash and has PTSD.
The bus accident remains under investigation. According to the Chronicle, the bus driver died from blunt force trauma, but investigators have yet to release a full crash or autopsy report. No other vehicles were involved in the accident.
The newspaper reported that federal inspectors have reviewed the company 276 times and have issued it 20 violations. The transportation company employs 94 drivers, and runs 58 buses and motor homes.

Should I Speak to a Texas Vehicle Accident Injury Attorney?
Our attorneys have secured multi-million dollar verdicts and settlements for injury accident victims. If you are involved in a vehicle accident, you should speak to a lawyer about your injuries before speaking to insurance company representatives and/or the negligent party involved in the crash.
Insurance companies may try to settle with you and give you a poor offer when it comes to compensation in the aftermath of a vehicle accident. This can lead to monetary issues when it comes to paying healthcare costs or returning to the workforce.
